This is a song fic request from Oyuki… I apologize for taking so long in getting this out… and for my other stories too.. The new job has me working 11 ½ hours a day and that does not include the ½ hour travel time both ways so it makes me rather slow on getting things done… please be patient with me and I will try to get out what I can… and yes I will be working on a few of the stories I have dropped off on.. She was on his mind again. It didn’t matter where he was she would just be there .. Sometimes he even could see her beautiful eyes looking back at him. Her smile was always wistful and mysterious. He hated to be away from her. It had been a few months ago he had met her and he didn’t realize at first what the consequences would be. He should have never looked into her eyes. He couldn’t believe how quickly she had captured his heart and soul until he had to leave her. Now she was forever on his mind… constantly… never leaving ….he needed to be by her side but there was no way to get to her during this war.. It was always something that pulled them apart. This war was keeping him from where he needed….. NO….wanted to be. By her side , in her arms , just near her. He opened his eyes and stared off into the blackness of space, the stars winking back at him it a little dance. He blinked as the vision played through his head . A vision he thought he himself could never have , but yet it played in his mind over and over. Him, Hilde, children, a little house, maybe even a couple pets. As he gazed into the stars , he nodded to himself. He would have this dream , no matter the cost. He looked out once more into the darkness and whispered softly, “Heaven, end this soon so I can be with her.”

Duo landed his Gundam with out a hitch and slipped out of the cockpit. It had been a long battle and he knew he was tired , but he also knew sleep wouldn’t come. And if it did it was fitful and short. When he laid in Hilde’s arms he slept like a baby. He made his way to the coms so he could call her and just gaze into her eyes and look at her face. He knew it wouldn’t be enough but it would have to do.. Maybe sleep would come …

He could see the other pilots as he walked through the hanger. He waved and grinned as he past each of them. Quatre’s hand slipped to his chest as Duo past him, feeling the confusion he was feeling . Quatre could feel Duo’s emotions working on over load. Trowa slipped up beside him and grasped his arm. Quatre looked up at his friend and smiled. Trowa’s face looked quizzical and Quatre just shook his head.

WuFei just snorted as the long haired pilot moved by him. Heero said nothing. Duo stopped to speak with Howard as he reached the door, but Howard only slapped him on the back and told him to get some sleep.

Duo waved to Sally and Noin as he pushed open the door to the com room and sat in front of a video phone. He dialed up the number they shared. It rang several times before a tired and bewildered Hilde answered. He smiled as her face light up and they chatted for a few minutes, closing with a smile and a good night.

Duo Sighed as he disconnected and headed for his assigned room. He was tired but sleep wouldn’t come , he knew it. He undressed and flopped onto the bed , grasping the pillow and hugging it tight. He closed he eyes and saw her face. He pretended the pillow was her as he held on to it tightly . His heart ached to be with her but he knew it was impossible right now. They would be together soon. He only needed her kiss for his happiness . He took a deep breath and listened to his heart beat every beat for her.

He opened his eyes as he rolled to his back and gazed at the ceiling , wishing the heavens could end this war and bring peace.

He rolled over and hugged the pilled tighter, wishing with all his heart she was sleeping here beside him. She was defiantly in his heart, even more than he thought possible . It scared him that he could love some one so passionately and so willingly. He had no clue how this had happened, it just did.

She was the most important thing to him right now and forever. Even more important than the Gundam he called his “buddy.” She invaded his dreams, his thoughts, everything. Never in his wildest dreams did he ever think some one could get to him. She had. Even after the Maxwell church incident and him joining with the good doctor. To try an figure out how it happened would be a waste of time . He just knew he loved her and she was where he needed to be

Duo closed his eyes once more trying to relax, so he could at least attempt to sleep. If he could have brought her along he would have , but that would have been very selfish and if she were to get hurt he would never forgive himself. He would just have to dream of her until the day they could be together. He drifted off to sleep with his thoughts on his girl and the plans he and her were going to make for the future when this was over.
