Here is another chapter to if your gone.
2. IF Your Gone.
Chapter 8
The beginning of the end.
“I won’t help you.” Sally said stubbornly. “I will not kill my friend.”
Gregory laughed and snapped his fingers. The guard behind Hilde picked her up and held her by
her neck. He wrapped his arm around it tighter. Sally looked at her friend’s face and saw her
grimaced in pain. Her fingers clawing at the vice like grip on her neck. She could see Hilde’s feet
inches off the ground.
“Damn it! Put her down. You son of a bitch! Why do you think you can play with lives like you
do?”
He laughed. “Because I can.” He nodded and Hilde dropped to the floor on her knees, coughing,
trying to catch her breath. Tears fell freely from her eyes as one hand went to her neck. Sally
rushed to her side and pulled her into her arms. “You are a bastard. What do you really want?”
“The eggs and the sperm. I have the technology to make whole armies from only the pilots’
sperm and their women’s eggs. We have ahead start already.” He paused and looked at the both
of them. “You know the boy I sent.“
Hilde rasped, “James?”
“Yes,” He sighed,” My best one yet. I perfected him. He was a normal ordinary human once .
Had an mother and father. . Even a couple o f sisters. Too bad they were in our way, well the
sisters were fun to experiment on. But they too had to die when none of the experiments worked
with them… Even when we got them pregnant.” He grinned, “ That was a great time , doing it
the old fashioned way. I’m sure you and your Gundam boy had fun with that .Ah, to be a youth
again.” He smiled, his face becoming cold. “Ah , but the boy, he had potential and we used that
potential to our advantage. You see he’ll do what ever we want. If we don’t give him these
injections he will die. It’s like a drug… he needs it to live…”
James fists clenched tight. “Just a puppet, am I?” He whispered as he listened to the man go on
with his sick and perverted reasoning. He had trusted this man and the bastard had used him. He
had been lied to. Now he was even more determined than ever to destroy this evil that he had
created, even if he had to die to do it. After all he was one of a kind and he wanted to stay so.
He waited till he was done then slipped away from the door. He had a phone call to make.
As Gregory finished his little speech, Sally pulled Hilde to her feet and hugged her close. A
guard came near, but she stared him down. He backed away.
“So, now you will be separated so I can prepare you each.”
The guards came closer then pulled the girls apart . Sally swung and knocked one to the ground
but before she could do more some thing hit her head and she lapsed into darkness. Hilde swung
at her guard but since he was a head taller than her, he just caught her up and grasped her in his
embrace. He leaned over and whispered in her ear as one hand grasped her breast and squeezed.
“I will be glad to have you before he kills you.”
“Rolfs. Leave her be.” Came Gregory’s harsh voice. “Take her to her room and do not touch her again. She must be unspoiled until her pilot gets here. We can not have the god of Death going on a rampage because you violated his woman.” He turned to the other man. “That goes the same for you! If I find you have touched these women, I will have your heads.”
Both men gulped and nodded. The man who had hit Sally picked her up and tossed her over his shoulder as if she was a bag of grain. The other took Hilde’s arm and walked her to the door o f her new prison. He pushed her in as he leered at her. Hilde shivered as she went to the single bed and sat. She rubbed her throat, knowing it would be bruised. She didn’t even want to try to talk. She looked down at her clothes. God, they were stupid. They evidently didn‘t think she was a threat to them at all.. They didn’t make them change clothes! She reached down into her shoe for the stash of Duo’s picks she had hidden in the lining.. Maybe Sally had her little hide out gun she always carried. She knew at this time the guys had no idea where they were or what was going on. They were really on their own this time… She wanted Duo to be with her but not at the cost of his life.. Not at the cost of anyone’s life. She fumbled with her shoes and found the pick she wanted. She moved to the door and stuck the pick in as started to play with it, hoping it would work. She hoped Sally was ok as she fiddled in the key hole.
Sally was dropped unceremoniously on the small cot in her new room. The man looked her over , gave a short snort, then left the room. Sally rolled over and groaned. She reached up and rubbed her head where she had been hit. She pulled her hand back expecting blood but there was none. She frowned as she rubbed the bump on her head. It wasn’t a large bump so that meant he had held back when he had hit her. Sally closed her eyes and thought of WuFei. She suddenly wished she had been able to say good bye to him. She shook her head , there was no time for regrets. She sat up. She had to get out of this room and get Hilde. They had to destroy this place and get out of here. She patted her pockets and found what she wanted. Neither the preventers or the pilots knew they were here yet. She was sure Gregory was going to use her and Hilde to bring the boys in this . She was positive this had nothing to do with the preventers. Just another world dominating , power hungry Psycho loose on the world. He had to be stopped. No one was going to die because of her, not as long as she could still move on her own.
~~~~~~~
James walked down the hall, with out a care. He knew he could walk through here and no one would question him…. Yet. He had to do what he needed to do quickly and efficiency . An army of people like him? What was he really? Was he a genetic misfit, a clone a hybrid? Before he left this place he would have his answers, even if everyone involved would die by his hand. James stopped at the communications station, paused, then continued by. He would make his call but first he wanted to find some files. He hurried down to the archive room. He opened the door and looked at the woman in a white jacket sitting at a computer. He nodded as he passed her. She ignored him and continued typing. He snorted and disappeared into the shadows. He looked up at the security camera and waved. He then slipped into the dimly lit corner of the filing cabinets. James grinned as he opened the drawers.. Everything was on disks.. Some even on the old microfilms of the 20th century. He pulled disk after disk, reading the encrypted labels. After he pulled a ½ dozen he closed the drawers back up and went to the front. The woman glared at him as he signed the clipboard.
“Light reading.” He told her as he picked his disks up and left the room.
He returned to his room and put all the disks but one in his duffle. He would call Heero Yuy and be gone before they got here. He slipped the disk he kept out into his pocket and left his room. He moved quietly down to the ammunitions garage. He had to find a few bombs with timers. When he left here no one would find him ever… he would be a guinea pig no longer. After he rummaged through all the arms he found what he wanted. He had to plant each one. He would do it just like he did at Preventer headquarters. He stuffed them in the small bag he carried, then he went to the lab. There was some one there he needed to talk to. Then he would call Heero Yuy.
~~~~~~~~~
Heero typed every code breaker he could think of. He even tried some of the old ones that kids used when they played. Nothing worked. He was getting to the point of frustration. He knew time had t o of the essence. Just as he was ready to give up, his phone mode beeped and James’s face popped up.
Heero growled and almost hit the disconnect button.
“Wait!! I know where Sally and Hilde are! I‘ll tell you the coordinates ! ”
“Why?” Heero questioned, with suspicion.
“Pay back.” He paused. “I’m sending them. I need your email address.”
“Why?”
“Do you want to save the girls , or not? He’s gonna kill them! Hurry!”
“hy@hypernet.com.”
“ Thank you. Ok ,they are sent. Listen! Be very careful when you get here. There will be traps. He wants you and the others. I’m sending the other information. This information is his operation and what he is planning. I’m going to try to get the girls out of the building before you come. Good luck. Don’t try to find me. I’m sure you already know what I am.”
Be fore Heero had a chance to say any more , James closed the connection, leaving Heero staring at a black screen.
Heero sat there for a moment, then hit his email address. He first opened the coordinates file then the other mail. If there was ever a time that Heero Yuy was shocked , this was it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sally pulled the gun from it’s hiding place and checked it’s load. It was a small gun ad wouldn’t make a lot of noise when she shot some one with it. Doctor not, when some one threatened her or someone she cared about , they would die. And this was a life and death situation. She didn’t have to wait long for some one to come to the door. She stood behind it as the person fumbled with the keys and then turned the lock.
Sally held her small gun close to her side, and waited fro the door to swing open and the man to step in. Before he could see her and realized what was happening she was behind him, the gun pointing into his ribs.
“Don’t move.” She said, firmly. “Don’t think I won’t shoot you.”
He raised his hands and snorted. “What/ You would shoot me? Bah. I don’t think you have the
guts woman.”
He started to move swinging is arms to catch her, when Sally pulled the trigger. The man’s face registered surprise, then shock at the small popping noise the gun made. He looked at Sally then at his waist, noticing the blood. His hand went to the wound ,wiping the blood away. He pulled it to his face and stared at it. Sally stepped back as he crumpled to the floor.
“I warned you. Never underestimate a woman.”
She stepped over him and quickly left the room, pulling the door closed behind her. Now she had
to find Hilde and destroy this place. She hurried down the semi-dark hallway. She looked around
as she moved, trying to notice cameras and the like. She frowned noticing the dampness on the
walls, and the musty smell in the air. There were several areas where the paint had peeled and fell
off the walls. It was almost like they were underground.
Hilde grinned as she heard the tumblers click and fall in place. “Yes!” She whispered as she turned handle. The door moved slightly open. She peeked out then closed it again. She listened to make sure no alarms were set off by her fiddling with the lock. Nothing happened. She slipped the pick back into the lining of her shoe and stood . She reached for the handle just as the door opened. She jumped back in fear , unprepared for the door to come open. She growled as she saw who came into the room.
“What do you want?” She tried to sound menacing , but it came out as a hoarse whisper.
“To get you out of here.”
“Are you still his lap dog?”
“No, I heard what he said. I’m a lot of things, Hilde, but not a puppet.”
He stepped toward her as she stepped back.
“How can I trust you?” She rasped.
“Don’t talk. I didn’t know this was what he had planned. I knew he wanted revenge on the pilots and the Preventers, but I didn’t know it was this way. I hate it. The bastard. I didn’t know all the stuff he told you and Miss Sally.” He turned away from her.
Hilde was still suspicious but stepped forward. She reached out to touch him.
“DON’T!” He shouted at her, stepping back. “You don’t know what I am.”
She with drew her hand, then nodded.
“Come on, let’s find Miss Sally.”
~~~~~~~
WuFei stood and paced the room again. He crossed his arms as he let his thoughts roam. He wished he hadn’t been so harsh with Sally. He had been wrong about a lot of things. Her, his relationship with her, everything about her. His honor kept him form admitting these things. He glanced over at Duo who was sitting quietly. He knew all of this was taking a toll on him. He had been wrong about him too. He wasn’t the irresponsible dolt he carried on to be. When all of this was over, He resolved to himself to make amends to Sally, promise her his undying love and have a bit more respect for Maxwell. He often wondered what Marion would have thought of all of this. Would she be proud, would she be angry and swat him upside the head. He grinned at that thought. Yes, it would like Marion to smack him. Sally would do no such thing. She would be tender and kind. Damn he missed her.
He had moved toward the window to stare out into the night sky when Heero entered the room with almost no sound.
Une looked up at him from her papers on the table. “You have something?”
“Hn.” He grunted and tossed the printed papers in front of her.
“What’s this?”
“Read them.”
WuFei turned from the window and looked over at Une and Heero. Duo had sat up and was listening , too.
“We know where they are.”
Wu Fei stepped closer. “Where are they ?”
Heero looked up at the man standing across from the table from him.
“At these coordinates.” He recited the numbers.
“What are we waiting for, Come on let’s go!” Duo said, excitedly, as he struggled to get to his
feet.
“Yes.” WuFei muttered as he moved toward the door.
“Wait.” Une said, in a calm and quiet voice.
“What?”
“Maybe it’s a trap. We need to confirm this.”
“WHAT!?” Both Duo and Wu Fei shouted in shock.
Heero stood up and said nothing.
“What do mean wait?” Duo demanded.
“What if they are in trouble?” WuFei Questioned.
“Are you questioning my judgment?”
Both men shook their heads.
“Good. You both know those two girls can handle themselves in most situations. And it seems
they may have help.” Une stood and looked at the three men waiting to be given the ok. “Give
me 15 minutes to confirm all of this. Please. Then I’ll let you go!”
WuFei growled and turned away. Action is what this situation called for not waiting around. !5
minutes would seem like a life time.
To be continued………..
